We are looking for a responsible and highly motivated Research Associate to join the Wheat Team within Controlled Environments. We are looking for candidates who take initiative, love to learn, work hard, and have a stable work history.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree and one year experience in a related field.
  • Excellent communication skills, a high degree of self-motivation, and a positive attitude.
  • Strong molecular background preferred.
  • The ability work well independently.
  • Close attention to detail, and ability to follow standard operating and safety/ergonomics protocols.
  • Excellent computer skills including experience with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook), and a willingness to gain competency with internally developed research software.
  • Ability to stand/sit for long periods of time, lift up to 30 pounds and perform repetitive work in a warm, humid greenhouse with pollen present year-round.

Nice To Haves

  • Power BI and Power apps experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Manage experiments and production practices associated with paternal double haploid wheat production in a controlled environment
  • Manage a team of contractors to execute production of wheat plants.
  • Manage schedule for a production team, assigning team members tasks and confirming all tasks throughout the week are completed.
  • Track experiments through various production steps and ensure processes are completed successfully.
  • Utilize data to communicate performance of experiments and production output.
  • Conduct lab-based tasks to apply treatments to plantlets and view biological progression.
  • Collaborate with various teams on plant care and process steps.
