About The Position

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Research Associate provides advanced research support for projects and grants related to cognitive neuroscience and artificial intelligence. The position involves designing and conducting research activities, including literature reviews, participant recruitment and training, and collection and analysis of neural and behavioral data using methods such as EEG, TMS, and eye-tracking. The Research Associate also contributes to the evaluation and analysis of advanced AI systems in relation to intentions, deception, alignment faking, and related phenomena. Additional responsibilities include maintaining research documentation and datasets; assisting with preparation of presentations, grant materials, and academic manuscripts; supervising undergraduate and post-baccalaureate research assistants on assigned projects; and supporting coordination of research activities within an interdisciplinary research team.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of research experience, including knowledge of research methods and terminology
  • Experience collecting and analyzing behavioral and/or neural data
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to define research problems through literature review and data analysis
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience supervising or mentoring research assistants or students
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple research tasks

Responsibilities

  • Independently design and conduct research activities supporting projects in neuroscience, psychology, and artificial intelligence
  • Assist with development and refinement of research protocols and experimental procedures
  • Coordinate participant recruitment, training, and behavioral assessments
  • Collect and analyze neural and behavioral data including EEG, TMS, eye-tracking, and related measures
  • Analyze advanced AI systems with respect to intentions, deception, alignment faking, and related phenomena
  • Conduct literature reviews and synthesize findings to support research development
  • Maintain research datasets, protocols, and project documentation
  • Assist with preparation of presentations, manuscripts, and grant proposals
  • Compile and organize research findings for internal and external dissemination
  • Assist with data analysis and preparation of figures, tables, and reports
  • Supervise undergraduate and post-baccalaureate research assistants
  • Coordinate research tasks among lab members and monitor progress of assigned projects
  • Organize and lead undergraduate lab meetings and training sessions
  • Provide guidance and mentorship on research methods and data collection procedures
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary research team members to support project goals
