We are looking for a responsible and highly motivated Research Associate to join the Controlled Environments Team. We are looking for candidates who take initiative, love to learn, work hard, and thrive in a fast-paced team environment. We have an exciting opportunity to join our company at our Johnston, Iowa research facility.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or 2-year degree required.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow standard operating procedures and safety/ergonomics protocols are essential.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, high self-motivation, a positive attitude, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and the ability to build competency in external and internal research software as needed.
  • Ability to take initiative and maintain a thoughtful approach in a dynamic work environment.
  • Must be able to stand and sit for extended periods of time and lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to work repetitive tasks in a warm, humid greenhouse environment with pollen present year-round.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture, horticulture, plant physiology, molecular biology, entomology, or plant pathology preferred; or bachelor’s degree in related field or three or more years of related experience also acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Support our research pipelines by overseeing plant movement from our automated to non-automated (static) greenhouses on our Pot Logistics Team.
  • Duties involve operating a tug cart with training and prepping, sorting, moving, and discarding plants.
  • Scout plant movement from automated to static greenhouses based on crop maturity.
  • Create activity plans in internal software and determine floor support needs for plant movement.
  • Forecast and plan static placement up to four weeks prior to plant movement.
  • Upkeep room tracking and space assignment data via Spotfire.
  • Collaborate with process teams and project managers to support successful experiment outcomes.
  • Follow and maintain internal process protocols for plant movement.
  • Provide floor support as needed (for example: shoot bagging, discards, and other assigned tasks).
