About The Position

The Department of Pharmacology & Cancer Biology at Duke University School of Medicine is seeking a Research Associate, Senior to work alongside Dr. Michael Kastan on research projects. Requirements

  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g. Sc.D., M.D., D.V.M.).
  • Greater than 5 years of postdoctoral or equivalent training.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scientific experiments, including mammalian cell culture, cloning/subcloning/targeted mutagenesis, protein assays (immunoblots, immunoprecipitations), RT-PCR and RNA analyses, cell transfections and selections, cell survival assays, flow cytometry, and other cell/molecular biology techniques.
  • Partner with the PI in directing the scientific directions of the laboratory, including regularly reading and interpreting relevant scientific literature.
  • Keep up with regulatory processes (animal, safety, radiation protocols, SOPs, etc).
  • Orienting and participating in oversight of laboratory members, including students, post-doctoral fellows and technicians.
  • Maintaining personal laboratory records and ensuring lab records of other members is appropriate.
  • Communicating regularly with the PI and laboratory members.
  • Interface with other Duke scientists, including core laboratories.
