About The Position

The Department of Neuroscience and the Center of Brain Immunology and Glia at the University of Virginia is seeking an experienced and motivated Research Scientist or Research Associate to work in the Kuan Lab. The research will focus on investigating (1) vascular factors in neurodegeneration and/or (2) experimental thrombolytic and collateral circulation treatments, primarily using murine models. Applicants must possess a PhD degree in neuroscience, cell biology, immunology, pharmacology, physiology, or another basic biomedical research field, and have over 10 years of working experience as a Postdoctoral Fellow or higher. The role involves independently designing and executing experiments with minimal supervision from the Lab Head.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in neuroscience, cell biology, immunology, pharmacology, physiology, or other basic biomedical research fields.
  • >10 years of working experience as a Postdoctoral Fellow or higher.
  • Doctoral degree (for Research Associate).
  • Doctoral degree or master's degree with significant experience (for Research Scientist).

Responsibilities

  • Full-time research or scholarship at the University.
  • Preparatory for a full-time academic or research career.
  • Teaching junior postdoctoral fellows and supervising research assistants.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
