About The Position

The University of New Mexico is seeking a Research Associate Professor of Neurology. This position involves a combination of research and administrative duties. The annual departmental expectations for basic science research faculty include submitting unique manuscripts to peer-reviewed publications, presenting at conferences, maintaining extramural funded grants, and engaging in activities to supplement salary support. The initial effort distribution for the first year is 0.5 FTE Research and 0.5 FTE Administrative. The research component includes 0.2 FTE funded by ADRC as Imaging Core Leader and 0.3 FTE from grant funding where the individual is the PI. The administrative component involves serving as the Brain Imaging Research Center (BIRC) Director, funded by the HSC Office of Research. In two years, the salary support for the BIRC Director will be reduced, increasing the Research FTE to 0.8, pending funding and other potential duties.

Responsibilities

  • Submit at least 2 unique manuscripts to peer-reviewed publications, with at least 1 submitted to a journal with a minimum impact factor of 5.0.
  • Publish 1 or more papers in a peer-reviewed publication with a minimum impact factor of 5.0.
  • Present at least 1 peer-reviewed abstract at a national or international conference.
  • Maintain 1 or more extramural funded grants.
  • Maintain salary funding.
  • Engage in and/or apply for other activities to try and supplement salary support, such as leading courses for trainees, offering a new course, or serving on committees providing FTE.
  • Serve as the Brain Imaging Research Center (BIRC) Director.
