About The Position

The Department of Neurology Neuroimmunology Division seeks a Research Associate to contribute to the planning, design, execution, and management of research projects in a foundational biological/health science laboratory investigating immunological interactions after acute neurological injuries including traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and ocular injury. The incumbent participates in developing and implementing study goals and objectives, designs and conducts complex laboratory experiments, and performs advanced molecular, cellular, or other specialized techniques in the field of immunology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required
  • 3 years of relevant experience required with associate’s degree, or 1 year of relevant experience required with bachelor’s degree
  • Requires successful completion of a background check

Responsibilities

  • Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting research data
  • Assisting in the development and refinement of methodologies, experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical approaches
  • Establishing appropriate controls, criteria, and research standards
  • Critically reviewing relevant scientific literature
  • Supporting the preparation of manuscripts, reports, and presentations for national and international conferences
  • Contributing to project documentation
  • Assisting the principal investigator in preparing grant proposals to secure new or renewal extramural funding
  • Coordinating laboratory activities and work assignments for postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, and staff
  • Overseeing routine maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment
  • Performing other tasks as assigned to advance the research mission
