About The Position
We are on the hunt for a meticulous and enthusiastic Research Associate to join our Research and Development Global Core Services - Microbiology group. This role involves performing a range of microbial culturing techniques, handling infectious materials at BSL2 and BSL3 levels, engaging in molecular biology techniques, managing lab operations, and maintaining detailed experimental records. The position requires collaboration with supervisors and peers, multitasking across multiple projects, and a strong commitment to lab safety and efficiency.
Requirements
- MSc in Biology, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or related field with 0 - 2 years of relevant lab experience OR BSc in Biology, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or related field with 2 - 4 years of relevant lab experience
- Tissue culture, virus culture and/or microbiology experience
- Sterile work technique
- Molecular biology experience, including cloning, PCR and sequencing
- Attention to detail
- Team player; excellent communication skills
Responsibilities
- Perform a range of microbial culturing techniques with precision and master sterile techniques.
- Safely manage infectious materials, including work at BSL2 and BSL3 level.
- Engage in essential molecular biology techniques such as PCR, sequencing, and nucleic acid isolation.
- Keep our lab running smoothly by managing equipment and reagent inventory, organizing, cleaning, and more.
- Maintain thorough and timely records of experimental procedures using an electronic lab notebook platform.
- Collaborate seamlessly with supervisors and peers to drive research objectives forward.
- Juggle multiple projects and tasks to achieve our research goals.
- Communicate effectively with peers and supervisors.
- Plan and coordinate tasks to ensure lab efficiency and project completion.
- Make smart choices for lab safety, be dependable, and take accountability in lab operations.
- Embrace a learning mindset and be open to coaching and training in essential techniques and skills.
- This is a hands-on lab-based position requiring your on-site availability.
