About The Position

The Special Pathogens Excellence in Clinical Treatment, Readiness, and Education (SPECTRE) Program is hiring a Research Associate II to support our institutional and regional efforts to protect and serve our community in the face of emerging and special pathogens. The SPECTRE Program maintains institutional readiness for clinical treatment, provides special pathogen education both institutionally and to our surrounding region, and develops and maintains research infrastructure for rapid deployment. Under general supervision, performs routine and non-routine research assignments and experiments of moderate complexity.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in basic science or equivalent and 2 years of related experience or Master's degree in basic science or equivalent and no experience required.

Responsibilities

Plans, coordinates, provides setup and conducts standard research experiments following general technical instructions.
Prepares biological assays and conducts quantitative and qualitative analysis.
Makes modifications to research procedures as determined by Principal Investigator.
Maintains records of all tests performed and data collected and provides preliminary analysis of results.
Assists in the compilation and tabulation of data and analysis of final data.
Ensures the accurate assembly, calibration, operation and modification of a variety of laboratory equipment as defined by appropriate guidelines.
Maintains lab for animal and environmental safety compliance.
Maintains lab inventory of supplies and equipment.
Performs literature searches as outlined by the Principal Investigator.
May provide guidance to junior research staff.
Adheres to internal controls established for department.
Performs related duties as required.
