Research Associate II - Sargsyan Lab - Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center
About The Position
Dr. Karine Sargsyan is seeking a Research Associate II to join the team! Working under direct supervision, the Research Associate II performs routine and increasingly complex laboratory tasks and procedures and develops technical expertise in one or more areas relevant to research projects. The Research Associate II will participate in research activities involving all aspects of the research process, to include, but not limited to; investigation, technical, testing/validation of results, and report findings. The Associate will perform a variety of routine experimental protocols and procedures to support the objectives of laboratory research projects. The Associate will observe and comply with safety standards and procedures, assist in preparation of data for publication and/or presentation at scholarly meetings, and assist in general laboratory maintenance. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

- Ability to orient research laboratory assistants or lower level research associates and undergraduate student researchers on day-to-day lab operations and routine procedures.
- Ability to independently perform ELISA serology testing, as well as ELISA data collection and analysis.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot problems with ELISA assay.
- Ability to perform quality control and validation testing on new laboratory equipment and reagents used in ELISA.
- Ability to optimize ELISA protocols.
- Ability to perform data entry and maintenance of MIRIAD samples in LabVantage database system.
- Ability to update and maintain IBIRI freezer inventory on Redcap database system.
- Ability to assist in training new hires on various laboratory operations and procedures.
- Ability to organize and prepare tables for a manuscript for publication.
- Ability to present data at IBDI meetings.
- Ability to maintain storage of MIRIAD paper collection forms.
- Ability to write SOPs for use on LabVantage and other systems.
