Research Associate II - Transplant
About The Position
This is a full-time position in the Carolinas Medical Center - Transplantation department. The role involves collecting, verifying, and entering various types of data into research databases and registries, maintaining these databases for accuracy and completeness, and entering patient-reported outcomes. The associate will perform medical record chart extractions, abstract clinical data, and conduct data quality checks. Responsibilities also include resolving data queries, maintaining patient confidentiality, following Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines, participating in quality improvement initiatives, assisting in developing standard operating procedures, and collaborating with various research and clinical teams. The role also requires participation in team meetings and training.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and database systems.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Previous medical experience a benefit.
- Experience with EPIC, Redcap, data extraction and entry, healthcare, and research highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Collect, verify, and enter demographic, clinical, inpatient, outpatient, and follow-up data into research databases and registries.
- Maintain and update transplant-related databases, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
- Enter patient-reported outcomes, questionnaires, and survey data according to study protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Perform comprehensive medical record chart extractions from electronic and paper records.
- Abstract clinical data related to diagnoses, treatments, procedures, laboratory results, adverse events, and outcomes.
- Perform routine data quality checks and validation procedures to identify discrepancies, missing information, and data inconsistencies.
- Resolve data queries and collaborate with research and clinical teams to ensure data integrity.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and research participant information in accordance with HIPAA and institutional policies.
- Follow Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and applicable research regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing data accuracy, workflow efficiency, and subject retention.
- Assist in developing and updating standard operating procedures related to data collection and management.
- Collaborate with investigators, research coordinators, clinicians, and data management personnel to support research objectives.
- Participate in team meetings and training activities related to research protocols, databases, and registry requirements.
