Research Associate II, Platform

Camp 4 RanchCambridge, MA
Onsite

About The Position

CAMP4 is leveraging a proprietary drug discovery platform to discover antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) targeting regulatory RNAs to treat a broad range of central nervous system diseases. We are seeking a passionate Research Associate II to join the Platform team responsible for high-throughput screening, regRNA target identification and characterization, as well as development of innovative strategies and experimental and computational approaches for optimization of ASO therapeutics targeting regulatory RNAs. You will work closely with the Discovery, Chemistry, Data Science, and Preclinical teams to advance the research of transcriptional mechanisms mediated by regRNAs and the development of therapeutic candidates for programs across multiple therapeutic areas. A successful candidate will apply their experience in tissue processing, including RNA and protein extraction and quantification, to characterize the effects of candidate ASOs on target engagement and phenotypic rescue. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly creative, scientifically curious, self-motivated, and collaborative individual with excellent organizational and communication skills.

Requirements

  • BS or MS degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or similar discipline.
  • Relevant research experience in industry or academic setting (4+ years for BS degree; 2+ years for MS degree).
  • Extensive tissue culture experience; experience with iPSC-derived neuronal cell types is a plus.
  • Working proficiency with Microsoft Office, GraphPad, R, or a similar software.
  • Expertise in basic molecular biology techniques including RNA isolation, probe-based target capture, quantitative and digital PCR, and western blotting.
  • Flexibility and comfort with wearing multiple hats and executing on multiple projects in parallel.
  • Attention to detail, high professional integrity, and commitment to excellence in execution.
  • Team-oriented, creative, and highly motivated with a strong work ethic; ability to work productively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment that requires a high level of organization and communication.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and excellent time management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with next generation sequencing (NGS), techniques for genome perturbation (CRISPR), and analysis of DNA (ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq) or gene expression (RNA-seq) is strongly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct targeted RNA sequencing including probe-based target enrichment, library preparation, and long read sequencing.
  • Assist with genomic mapping of various cell and tissue systems including sterile cell culture, processing, cell fractionation, and library generation.
  • Investigate transcriptional mechanisms of action for pre-clinical candidates for a variety of therapeutic areas using reverse genetics, functional genomics, and systems biology approaches.
  • Analyze, interpret, and present data to internal and external experts.
  • Maintain detailed records of experimental designs and results.
  • Support daily laboratory operations and maintenance including ordering and preparation of reagents and supplies, equipment maintenance, and other housekeeping activities.
  • Demonstrate an exceptional work ethic by taking initiative and working with a sense of urgency to discover breakthrough medicines that will improve patients’ lives; collaborate and share ideas with the rest of the CAMP4 team.

Benefits

  • medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • life and disability coverage
  • paid parental leave
  • a 401(k) plan with company contribution
  • Employee Stock Purchase Program
  • Trek Time (flexible time off)
  • tuition assistance
