This research-based support includes administrative, financial and laboratory space & equipment management as well as project development. He/She will need to be organized and have strong communication skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in biology, chemistry, immunology, or a related scientific field PLUS four (4) years of research experience in a histology laboratory or medical/laboratory facility, including data collection and analysis.
  • Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques and practices.
  • Ability to follow established protocols and procedures for tissue embedding and microtomy of paraffin-embedded and/or frozen tissues.
  • Ability to perform special stains and immunohistochemistry on paraffin-embedded and/or frozen tissue slides.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain fresh solutions, stains, and reagents for laboratory procedures and equipment.
  • Ability to operate automated stainers and learn to operate the BOND multiplex stainer.
  • Ability to review, understand, and follow Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and/or administers research experiments, process human and animal specimens, perform embedding, sectioning of FFPE and frozen samples.
  • Analyzes and interprets data, evaluates research results and recommends refinements in scientific protocols used in research.
  • Develops, implements, and manages protocols and data collection, analysis, and reports and assists in preparation of written reports related to projects and data analysis.
  • Participates in the development of scientific portions for research grant proposals and maintains detailed notes on laboratory research protocols
  • Oversees the operations of the laboratory, including auditing, ordering supplies, monitoring performance of experimentation, providing budgetary oversight, client support, iLab, maintaining records and files, and ensuring safety and security of hazardous materials
  • Provides training and oversees junior laboratory personnel
  • Performs other duties as assigned
