The Center for Genome Architecture studies how the genome folds inside the nucleus and what that folding does. Work from the Center produced the first kilobase-resolution three-dimensional maps of the human genome, identified chromatin loops and contact domains as fundamental features of genome organization, showed that loop extrusion explains how these structures form, demonstrated that acute loss of cohesin eliminates loop domains genome-wide, and discovered fossil chromosomes in ancient DNA. We are expanding our experimental footprint, including a growing program of mouse work, to ask how these principles operate in living tissues. This position performs molecular biology and sequencing library preparation and analysis, maintains careful records across a large experimental series, contributes to quality control of the resulting data, and takes part in supervised mouse work including colony management, genotyping, treatment, and tissue collection. Training is provided.
