The Research Associate 1, SOM will work on mitochondrial regulation of leukemic/hematopoietic stem cells or in red blood cell maturation research projects under the supervision of the senior staff. This role will utilize a variety of model systems and techniques to conduct basic and translational research, including in vitro (cell culture) and in vivo (mice) models. The associate will perform standard and innovative techniques to analyze DNA, RNA, protein, microscopic analyses, flow cytometric analysis, and FACS sorting. Responsibilities include maintaining a mouse colony, collecting samples, and extracting DNA, RNA, and protein. A key aspect of the role is maintaining well-organized, dated, detailed, and up-to-date laboratory notes, both physical and electronic, documenting experimental rationale, design, materials, procedures, modifications, results, data analysis, interpretation, and suggestions for future experiments. The associate will also assist in the preparation of manuscripts and presentations.
