Temporary Research Assistant (part-time 17.5 hrs/wk) Research staff position in the Gus Hart Lab (Physics & Astronomy) focused on evaluating the effectiveness of synthetic data for training AI models for cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) image analysis
Requirements
- A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
- Bachelor’s degree in physics or related area
- Familiarity of cryoET
- Experience with synthetic cryoET data
- Experience comparing phantom data and synthetic cryo-ET data
Nice To Haves
- Experience with machine learning for image analysis.
- Previous work in AI models for cryo-ET
Responsibilities
- Perform AI model training and benchmarking using synthetic, phantom, and in vivo cryo-ET datasets.
- Support synthetic data simulation and preprocessing workflows.
- Analyze and compare model performance across training regimes.
- Maintain reproducible computational pipelines.
- Assist with preparation of publications and research reports based on data collected and analyzed.
