The Department of Physiology & Biophysics at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a temporary Research Assistant. This role contributes to research investigators by providing research and experimentation support while following established protocols. The Research Assistant performs a clerical role to ensure the smooth operations of office facilities. This individual will work on a short-term project to describe a specific population of immune cells resident in the oral mucosa and characterize them for features associated with development of tolerance or allergy promotion. This individual will work with mouse tissue blocks that have already been prepared by others in the lab. They will be responsible for sectioning the tissue on a cry microtome, collecting on slides and then processing sections for immunohistochemistry. They will microscopically image sections and document the results to present to the Supervisor (Dr. Chaudhari) and Collaborator (Dr. Khan). The project is nearly completed and will require only a couple months or so for the last few experiments and analyses.
