About The Position

Under the supervision of the principal investigator, the Research Assistant conducts routine experiments using molecular biology, cell biology, and/or biochemistry techniques. The role includes recording test results, calculating and transcribing data, and analyzing data using basic statistics. The position requires flexibility as research projects evolve, and may involve demonstrating routine laboratory tasks to students and other research personnel.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or a related scientific field.
0–1 years of related work experience.
Experience with computer systems, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access.

Responsibilities

Conduct routine tests using established procedures, including assays, DNA sequencing, tissue culture, protein purification, Southern blotting, PCR analysis, electrophoresis, and chromatography.
Collect basic study data through monitoring devices and maintain daily logs and basic records of methodologies and test results.
With supervision, summarize data and interpret results using descriptive statistics and basic hypothesis testing.
Perform literature searches and library investigations related to research or as assigned.
Adapt to changes in principal duties and responsibilities as research projects evolve.
Attend Medical Center lectures about safety requirements and conditions.
Attend courses, lectures, and conferences to further research knowledge.
May demonstrate routine laboratory tasks and tests to students and other research personnel.
