About The Position

This position will assist our ongoing research projects. The Research Assistant will join a research lab focused on understanding the pathophysiology of stroke using whole animal and tissue culture approaches. Major techniques of the laboratory include in vivo studies, rodent surgeries and behavioral analysis, primary cell isolation and culture, histology, bioinformatics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills
  • Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors with major or minor in Neuroscience, Psychology, Biology, or related field
  • Small animal handling and bench research skills
  • Experience with using and troubleshooting general laboratory equipment

Responsibilities

  • Assists with behavioral studies and surgeries using rats
  • Assists in the design, planning, and coordination of experiments in support of various research projects
  • Selects and applies standard techniques of routine research and keeps detailed record of data.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Orders lab supplies
  • Assists in the installation and operation of research equipment.
  • May repair research equipment
  • Maintains lab equipment and certifications
  • Assists with compliance reviews
  • Searches literature
  • Evaluates and summarizes experiment results
  • Uses and computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis and technical evaluation of research experiments and results.
