About The Position

Texas A&M University's Oceanography Department is seeking a Research Assistant to analyze and prepare machine learning training data, and conduct machine learning model training under supervision. This role involves writing reports, assisting in the preparation of documents, and potentially contributing to research papers, articles, and publications. The Research Assistant will also be responsible for assisting in the maintenance of data servers and workstations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degrees in Computer Science.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time while working on the computer.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degrees in Computer Science.
  • Experience with Deep learning and Earth remote sensing.
  • Physical oceanography.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, curate, analyze, and summarize research data to support machine learning model training, evaluation, and interpretation of results.
  • Train and evaluate machine learning models and contribute findings to written research reports and technical documentation.
  • Prepare research reports, technical progress updates, and presentation materials for delivery to both small and large audiences.
  • Maintain and update research code repositories in the lab’s GitHub environment, manage the team website, and support research data servers.
