About The Position

The Pharmaceutical Sciences Department at the UNT System College of Pharmacy is seeking a Research Assistant to support a postdoctoral research associate on an NIH-funded project. This role requires a good understanding of research concepts and basic laboratory skills, ideally suited for someone who has completed a thesis-based Master's degree. The position offers an opportunity to gain experience and potentially continue as a PhD student in the department's new PhD program. The successful candidate will be crucial in executing the project's aims.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical organizational infrastructure.
Strong project organization and management skills.
Advanced training in quantitative research methods.
Knowledge of targeted drug delivery.
Ability to manage complex, high-risk research projects effectively.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and adapt to evolving project needs.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree in biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, materials science, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related field.
Experience in polymer synthesis.
Experience in nanoparticle fabrication.
Experience in material and particle characterization.
Experience with flow cytometry.
Experience with LC–MS.
Experience with confocal microscopy.
Experience with animal handling and/or surgery.

Responsibilities

Perform technical procedures involved in the execution of experiments, including material synthesis, characterization, and animal care/handling.
Execute experiments independently, collect data, and maintain detailed records.
Stay updated with the latest literature in the field of study.
Manage inventories of research materials.
Contribute to writing manuscripts and preparing materials for scientific presentations.
