About The Position

The Brilliant Beginnings Lab, situated within the Early Childhood Innovation Network (ECIN) and Georgetown’s Thrive Center for Children, Families, and Communities is seeking a Research Assistant to support a multidisciplinary portfolio of research projects pertaining to perinatal, infant, and early childhood mental health implementation science. This position will work with senior staff and faculty to design, implement, and evaluate these projects.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in a health-related field—including psychology, neuroscience, biology, social work, public health, or another relevant discipline
  • Basic knowledge of the principles, processes, and methods of medical and social science research through literature reviews and/or field experience
  • One year of experience in a research setting
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of library and web-related research
  • Strong interest in perinatal, infant, and early childhood development, parental mental health and substance use, and implementation science

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of qualitative and quantitative statistical software (SPSS, STATA, R, Atlas.ti, Dedoose)
  • Working knowledge of online survey software (Qualtrics, REDCap)
  • Proficiency or fluency in Spanish
  • Prior experience conducting literature reviews
  • Prior experience working in medical settings (including obstetrics and pediatrics)
  • Prior experience collaborating with community advisory boards
  • Strong organizational skills to balance multiple projects simultaneously
  • Empathy and cultural humility required to engage with diverse community partners and families

Responsibilities

  • Conducting literature reviews
  • Assisting with project recruitment, screening, and scheduling
  • Conducting, transcribing, and coding qualitative interviews and focus groups
  • Assisting with qualitative data management and analysis
  • Managing IRB protocols and participant incentives
  • Helping coordinate meetings with project partners
