Research Assistant - Infant Neurodevelopmental Center
About The Position
The Research Assistant I will be responsible for providing research support to the Principal Investigator (PI) and the Co-Directors of the Infant Neurodevelopment Center. The individual will perform a variety of duties in support of the research goals, objectives and protocols related to the funded study, Posthemorrhagic hydrocephalus of prematurity (PHHP): Elucidating neurocognitive and neurobehavioral phenotypes with robust longitudinal assessment. A considerable degree of responsibility, flexibility, and independence is required to carry out the diverse duties that are assigned. This staff member must have the ability to grasp the rationale for the methods used and must pay careful attention to details of the methods. This staff member will assist with IRB applications, IRB continuing reviews, and IRB changes to research, as well as assisting with preparations of progress reports to the funder. This staff member will assist with database design, data entry and cleaning, as well as data analysis, and preparation of presentations and manuscripts. This staff member will read and understand the scientific literature necessary to complete this study. Reliability and the ability to work well with multiple investigators are essential.
Requirements
- Must be proficient with MS Office suite including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint as well as other business and research-related software and applications.
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- One (1) year of experience with biomedical or social research experience preferred.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with RedCap, SPSS, STATA or other statistical programs is preferred.
- Familiarity with child development is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Infant Neurodevelopment Center by collaborating on all aims of the study Posthemorrhagic hydrocephalus of prematurity (PHHP): Elucidating neurocognitive and neurobehavioral phenotypes with robust longitudinal assessment that is funded through the Hydrocephalus Association.
- Assist with the coordination and communications of this research project in accordance with the funding agency’s award statement, including the recruitment of participants, implementation of all aspects of study protocols, and communications with collaborating investigator teams.
- Assist with the acquisition and maintenance of all data collected for this research study.
- Assist with developing databases, data entry, data tracking, and data cleaning.
- Assist with training new students and volunteers on all aspects of the research protocols.
- Assist with literature reviews, and writing up the results of ongoing studies, including submissions to conferences, peer-reviewed publications, and grants.
- Assist with the preparation of presentations to internal and external outside agencies for educational and recruitment purposes.
