About The Position

The position of Clinical Research Assistant assists the research department with the conduct of new and active research studies. This includes data management, patient scheduling, filing, obtaining research team member signatures, patient screening and follow-up, transporting study materials (including biological specimens), obtaining patient informed consent, and creating and maintaining study documentation.

Requirements

  • Medical Assistant or one-year college training
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with the computer system.
  • Excellent organizational skills to independently manage workflow.
  • Ability to prioritize quickly and appropriately.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Phlebotomist Certification Required

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed below, may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively with clinicians, patients, administrators, auxiliary personnel, regulators, monitors, and sponsors, both in the clinic and hospital setting.
  • Health & Medical Researchers: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Clinical trials: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Research: 1 year (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with data entry and database corrections for various research projects.
  • Screening patients for enrollment into active research studies, including obtaining patient consent when needed.
  • Conducting patient follow-up phone visits, filing documents, lab processing, materials transport, creating and maintaining study documentation, and obtaining research team member signatures.
  • Remaining in communication with clinical research project coordinators, Principal Investigators, and other research staff.
  • Collecting, cleaning, and organizing files as necessary and assuring comprehensiveness of individual patient data records.
  • Completing research data case report forms and answering queries.
  • Regular interaction with a variety of internal and external contacts including investigators and staff, study sponsors, and/or their representatives.
