About The Position

The Student Research Assistant will perform laboratory maintenance and data analyses associated with ecological monitoring for the Socio-Ecological Adaptation and Climate Resilience Lab at Chapman University.

Requirements

  • Adequate training in basic laboratory management skills, including but not limited to microscopy, aquarium maintenance, database maintenance, and field safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining lab organization and cleanliness, including but not limited to fieldwork gear storage maintenance, chemical inventory maintenance, equipment scheduling, and regular data archiving.
  • Leading aquarium maintenance and associated animal husbandry tasks.
  • Leading lab processing of ecological monitoring samples, including but not limited to sediment sample preservation, microscopy and invertebrate identification, cataloging environmental data logger payloads, and transcribing field data sheets.
  • The Student Research Assistant may also be expected to delegate some of these tasks and coordinate data management/entry with other undergraduate students.
  • Other duties as assigned.
