About The Position

Texas Oncology is seeking a Research Assistant to support their Tyler location. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate patient data for clinical research, collecting data throughout a patient's treatment and follow-up, and performing administrative data management functions. The position may also involve assisting with direct patient care, laboratory services, and supply maintenance related to clinical research. The role supports the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required
1-year medical office experience, oncology experience preferred (for Level 1)
Three years of medical office experience preferred (for Sr Level)
Oncology experience preferred (for Sr Level)

Responsibilities

Maintains patient data files in an organized manner for easy retrieval and review.
Collects patient data from initial patient contact through course of therapy, rehabilitation, and long-term care.
Assists with scheduling consultations, diagnostic tests or procedures, and future appointments for patients with physicians as requested.
Prepares patient records for audits by regulatory, accrediting, and research organizations.
Maintains supplies, drugs and storage facilities for clinical research as appropriate.
May enter some pertinent data in computer system in a timely manner as outlined by department guidelines.
May assist physicians and nurses with direct patient care including vital signs and assisting in procedures.
May assist with collecting and processing specimens for research purposes.
