About The Position
The Department of Materials Science and Engineering is seeking applicants for a part-time research assistant position. The role will focus on the synthesis and fabrication of high-entropy transition-metal ceramics, creating ultra-hard materials through coherent spinodal decomposition. Responsibilities include the synthesis and fabrication of experimental samples, which may involve powder processing and Field-Assisted Sintering Technology (FAST) to consolidate and tailor unique formulations.
Requirements
- Experience with various analytical characterization tools including scanning electron microscopy, TEM, EDS and hardness testing
- Experience with designing experiments
- Experience with report preparation
- Oral and written communication skills
