The Sociophonetics Lab at JHU, under the direction of Dr. Margaret Renwick, is a newly established research space in Krieger Hall, including a state-of-the-art sound-proof booth for recording speech with multiple participants simultaneously, plus additional computing and testing equipment. We are seeking a Research Assistant (RA) who will help to equip this lab space, and to establish protocols for using the facility. This includes selecting, testing and installing devices for high-fidelity audio recording, alongside computers for experimentation. The RA will also establish a computer database for recordings currently being collected and analyzed by the PI and her research team. The RA will have the opportunity to participate in regular research lab meetings, and potentially to contribute to and participate in new and ongoing research. The RA will work alongside a team including the PI, graduate students in Cognitive Science, and undergraduate research assistants. The RA will maintain a regular in-person work schedule to promote communication and facilitate access by lab team members and research participants, or by students using equipment for approved coursework. The Research Assistant oversees data collection, data organization, and/or data management or similar functions/tasks for research study(ies) in support of a PI or a research team.
