About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Research Assistant to join our Animal Operations team in Greenfield, IN. In this position, you will be conducting Animal Research studies that will be looking at the safety, effectiveness, and toxicity of drugs that are in early development phase and/or chemical substances. You will be maintaining the highest standards of animal care and welfare in accordance with the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC). Your work will contribute to improving the lives and wellness of both people and animals around the world.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in veterinary technology or related program OR Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science, Biology, Wildlife Studies, or related life science field OR 2+ years of college in related Sciences field
  • 1-2 years of hands on large or small animal care in laboratory/research or farming operation
  • Comfortable working with small and large animals in research environment
  • Ability to follow research study procedures and document findings

Nice To Haves

  • Prior animal research experience
  • Experience with using standard laboratory equipment such as scales, measures, pipetting
  • Good time management skills
  • AALAS Certification is preferred but not required-we can help you obtain this!

Responsibilities

  • Conducting Animal Research studies that will be looking at the safety, effectiveness and toxicity of drugs that are in early development phase and/or chemical substances.
  • Maintaining the highest standards of animal care and welfare in accordance with Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC).
  • Perform husbandry duties to small and large animals.
  • Perform various dosing techniques with small and large animals.
  • Perform bleeding techniques with small and large animals.
  • Collect biological samples.
  • Perform basic measurements such as body weight, food consumption, body temperature, blood pressure, etc.
  • Perform medical imaging.
  • Monitor for behavior changes.
  • Document findings in LIMS.
  • Report on any animals concerns to supervisor.
