About The Position

The Research Assistant supports imaging and data analysis activities within the Department of Radiology’s magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) research laboratory. The role focuses on studies related to cerebrovascular pathology and glymphatic biology in the context of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Responsibilities include supporting MRI data acquisition workflows, performing image and data processing, and assisting with analysis procedures according to established study protocols. The position follows study-specific methodologies for imaging parameter selection and data processing based on acquisition characteristics, image quality, and research objectives. The role works in coordination with interdisciplinary research teams, including collaborators in neurology, psychology, radiology, physics, bioengineering, and biostatistics.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years experience statistics, analysis, or research. Relevant education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
  • Experience with fundamental neuroimaging concepts.
  • Experience with a command line environment (e.g. UNIX, MATLAB, Python, R).

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in engineering, biomedical engineering, medical physics, physics, chemistry, biostatistics, computational neuroscience or related fields.
  • Two (2) years of experience with Python, MATLAB, and/or R programming language.
  • Experience in working with clinical populations, especially seniors or those with degenerative brain disease.
  • Two (2) years of experience with Python, MATLAB, and/or R programming language.
  • Experience with MRI acquisitions and functional and structural MRI data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preprocessing and pipelining of functional and structural MRI and DTI data
  • Prepare and analyze data for presentation
  • Work at the command-line in for neuroimaging processing and analysis (FSL, AFNI, in-house software tools)
  • Assist with modifying computer scripts dedicated to analysis tasks
  • Prepare figures for presentations and manuscripts
  • Assist in manuscript and grant preparation including writing methodology reports
  • Prepare documentation data analysis workflow and other experimental practices
  • Attend and participate in CINA meetings
