About The Position

The Department of Cell Biology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is seeking candidates for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Research Assistant Professor (non-tenure stream). The role involves using S. cerevisiae as a model organism to understand how proteostasis factors recognize substrates in a complex environment and resolve proteotoxic stress. The successful candidate will leverage these mechanistic insights to develop therapeutic interventions for cancer and/or neurodegenerative diseases. The position offers the opportunity to join an interactive, interdisciplinary group and access state-of-the-art equipment and facilities at the University of Pittsburgh.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Cell Biology.
  • Strong track record of accomplishment from Ph.D. work in biochemistry or cell biology.
  • 3-5 years of post-doctoral experience in membrane proteostasis.
  • Ability to utilize S. cerevisiae as a model organism.
  • Capacity to develop therapeutic interventions in cancer and/or neurodegenerative disease.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize S. cerevisiae as a model organism to develop a mechanistic understanding of how proteostasis factors recognize substrates in a complex environment and resolve proteotoxic stress.
