About The Position

Core4ce is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Undergraduate Research Assistant to contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of single crystal fiber growth. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with advanced materials processing techniques and contribute to the development of next-generation materials.

Requirements

  • Basic computer skills, including data processing and analysis.
  • Exceptional teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to be self-motivated, work independently, and seamlessly engage in proficient collaborative teamwork dynamics.
  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in a degree granting institution.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest or experience in mechanical design or instrumentation is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the operation and maintenance of the Laser Heated Pedestal Growth system.
  • Aid in data acquisition and analysis.
  • Perform characterization of grown fibers using techniques such as Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Raman Spectroscopy.
  • Contribute to the design, assembly, and testing of custom fiber testing equipment.
  • Conduct literature reviews and assist in the preparation of research reports and presentations.
