This role supports a research program focused on the equitable and compassionate scaling of AI and digital healthcare innovations, specifically understanding the perspectives of people with lived and living experience (PWLE) who have partnered on teams responsible for the global spread and scale of these innovations. The goal is to identify barriers and enablers to maintaining equitable and compassionate care and co-develop practical strategies to ensure these principles are prioritized throughout the spread and scale process.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in health sciences, public health and/or other health-related discipline; Master of Public Health (MPH) strongly preferred.
  • 1-2 years of progressive experience working in a research environment and/or academic hospital.
  • Experience with qualitative data collection is a key component to this role and is strongly preferred. This includes conducting semi-structured interviews.
  • Experience with Research Ethics Board approval process including submission of initial applications, amendments, annual renewals.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to work efficiently under conditions of multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Work efficiently under pressure with strong judgement with excellent problem-solving skills and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and lead a wide variety of people at different levels.
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative, discretion and tact.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Computer competency including familiarity with software such as MS Word, MS Excel, and NVivo.
  • Demonstrated record of good performance and acceptable attendance will be considered as part of the selection criteria.
  • Professional behaviour and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital.
  • This position plays a critical role in acting as an advocate for safety and will demonstrate principles, practices and processes that will optimize a safe environment for all.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors the progress and deadlines of research activities, develops and maintains records of research activities, and establishes and maintains operating policies and procedures.
  • Assists with primary data collection activities such as co-led participant interviews; administers screening questionnaires and surveys as required.
  • Prepares, submits, and maintains Research Ethics Board (REB) applications both internally as well as submissions to external organizations (if applicable), tracks ethics approvals, and completes renewals/amendments as needed.
  • Proactively identifies barriers/threats/risks for project completion and work with team members including Investigators.
  • Implements quality control process throughout the conduct of the study including ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data collection and investigating all missing or apparently invalid data.
  • Collaborates with Investigator and/or team members to write and edit presentations, reports, proposals, publications, conference materials, and manuscripts.
  • Assists with knowledge translation activities.
  • May perform aspects of research protocol, as required, in accordance with specified program objectives. (e.g. participant recruitment, data collection, preparing data for analyses, etc.).
  • Acts as a role model and champion, identifying and integrating safe, best practices into daily activities to foster the delivery of safe and exemplary care.
