About The Position

The Research Assistant II (RAII) in the Parentesis Lab within the Oncology Department at Cincinnati Children's will serve as a resource for the department, demonstrating competence in specific knowledge, skills, and behaviors. This role involves effectively communicating with team members, contributing to their growth, and staying updated on key systems. The RAII will design and execute daily laboratory experiments, follow research protocols, maintain accurate records, and analyze data. They will also assist in training students and junior personnel, troubleshoot equipment issues, manage laboratory supplies, maintain cell cultures, and ensure appropriate safety monitoring. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, with a day shift schedule.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent AND 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a resource for the department in specific area(s), demonstrating competence in knowledge, skills, and behaviors.
  • Effectively communicate with team members and contribute to their growth by sharing knowledge, experience, and skills.
  • Stay abreast of changes in key systems.
  • Follow research protocol and design and execute daily laboratory experiments in coordination with senior laboratory personnel.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all laboratory work and experiments.
  • Analyze data; perform statistical and graphical analysis of data.
  • Reproduce and evaluate techniques and results for accuracy.
  • Apply standard protocols to specific experiments, research and improve current methods, and evaluate innovative techniques.
  • Assist in training students and new/junior laboratory personnel in laboratory techniques and equipment operation.
  • Maintain/manage strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders.
  • Respond to requests quickly and effectively.
  • Identify and understand customer needs and expectations and meets them.
  • Communicate any relevant information to clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot and correct erroneous results or problems with laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain cell cultures.
  • Operate standard laboratory equipment and use and maintain laboratory equipment appropriately.
  • Respond to obviously erroneous results or problems with equipment.
  • Assist in daily operations of the laboratory including answering phone, maintaining lab supplies, organization, and cleanliness.
  • Provide appropriate safety monitoring checks as assigned (radiation safety, biosafety, etc.).
