About The Position

The Research Assistant II will work in the Lacagnina Lab within the Anesthesia department. This role involves performing experiments, analyzing data, maintaining laboratory supplies and equipment, and assisting with training junior personnel. The position requires adherence to research protocols, accurate record-keeping, and effective communication with team members and stakeholders. The Research Assistant II will also be responsible for troubleshooting equipment and results, maintaining cell cultures, and ensuring laboratory safety.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
2 years of work experience in a related job discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

Follow research protocol.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of all laboratory work and experiments.
Analyze data; perform statistical and graphical analysis of data.
Design and execute daily laboratory experiments in coordination with senior laboratory personnel.
Reproduce and evaluate techniques and results for accuracy.
Apply standard protocols to specific experiments, research and improve current methods, and evaluate innovative techniques.
Assist in training students and new/junior laboratory personnel in laboratory techniques and equipment operation.
Maintain/manage strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders.
Respond to requests quickly and effectively.
Identify and understand customer needs and expectations and meets them.
Communicate any relevant information to clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders.
Troubleshoot and correct erroneous results or problems with laboratory equipment.
Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment.
Maintain cell cultures.
Operate standard laboratory equipment.
Use and maintain laboratory equipment appropriately.
Respond to obviously erroneous results or problems with equipment.
Assist in daily operations of the laboratory including answering phone, maintaining lab supplies, organization, and cleanliness.
Provide appropriate safety monitoring checks as assigned (radiation safety, biosafety, etc.).
