About The Position

This individual will work closely with three experienced members of the Van Vactor laboratory to learn cell culture techniques necessary to perform pharmacological experiments in iPS-derived motor neurons that we use to model the neurodegenerative disease ALS.

Requirements

  • College background or equivalent work experience, preferably in a related discipline.
  • At least one-year related lab experience (relevant course work may count towards experience).

Responsibilities

  • Learn cell culture techniques necessary and perform pharmacological experiments in iPS-derived motor neurons that are used to model the neurodegenerative disease ALS.
  • Learn cell fractionation, Western blot analysis, and application of CRISPR to eliminate candidate gene expression.
  • Contribute to lab maintenance, attend bi-weekly group meetings, present data, and meet regularly with lab PI.
  • May assist with the design of experiments, techniques and protocols as needed, and may process orders or invoices, or undertake other duties under the direction of lab personnel.
