Research Assistant I
About The Position
The Robert Stone Dow Neuroscience Laboratories at the Legacy Research Institute in Portland, Oregon, is seeking a Research Assistant I to support research on novel non-coding RNAs in memory formation and Alzheimer's disease-associated cognitive impairment. The successful candidate will join the team-oriented and expanding Impey lab and contribute to research involving functional genomics, spatial transcriptomics, rodent transgenic models, molecular biology, cell culture, and viral vector preparation. The role provides general and technical assistance, clerical support, laboratory maintenance, and assistance with scientific data collection. This is an entry-level position performed under close supervision of a Principal Investigator.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or another field related to the specific study, or equivalent experience.
Nice To Haves
- A BA/BS in a biology-related major.
- One to two years of previous research experience is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide general and technical assistance in support of a specific research program.
- Perform clerical tasks.
- Maintain the laboratory.
- Order and inventory laboratory supplies.
- Assist with the production and collection of scientific data.
