The Division of Genetic Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology is a dynamic division focused on integrating genome variation and function to define biological mechanisms of human disease, leading in personalized medicine. The division aims to understand how basic molecular, biochemical, and cellular processes are altered in pathological conditions to identify novel therapeutic interventions. It is closely tied to the Vanderbilt Genetics Institute. This Research Assistant I position, under direct supervision, supports specified research projects, collects, assesses, and communicates data/results, and assists in general laboratory operation and inventory. Vanderbilt Health cultivates distinguished research and educational programs to advance a clinical enterprise providing compassionate and personalized care. The Office of Research provides shared resources, administrative expertise, and professional guidance to enable a trans-disciplinary environment for discovery and training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Less than 1 year of relevant work experience
  • Ability to provide support for specified research projects
  • Ability to collect, assess, and communicate data and results
  • Ability to assist in general laboratory operation and inventory
  • Proficiency in blood processing
  • Experience with clinical consenting and patient interfacing
  • Skill in cell line maintenance
  • Ability to perform nucleic acid/protein extraction
  • Experience with database maintenance
  • Ability to perform various equipment maintenance and tracking

Responsibilities
