About The Position

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has a unique combination of education, research, and clinical programs that encourages and supports teamwork and diversity. This position is for a Research Assistant within the Division of Vascular Surgery, focusing on clinical studies in the field of vascular disease. The RA will be responsible for overseeing and helping coordinate clinical studies, participating in divisional research meetings, and potentially contributing to grant applications and IRB approvals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field plus one (1) year of laboratory and animal research experience including breeding and genotyping, required.
  • Must know Biochemistry, Molecular and Cancer Biology, and tissue culture and microscopy skills.
  • Must have demonstrated the ability to independently design and successfully carry out experiments in a laboratory setting.
  • Must record data and report clearly on the study’s findings.
  • Willingness to perform animal studies is required.
  • Must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a clinical setting.
  • Experience with data collection, statistical analysis, IRB approval, and grant application will be beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and plans experiments.
  • Participates in experimental transplantation, post-operative care, and analysis.
  • Organizes and maintains the lab.
  • Writes publications and protocols.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
