About The Position

UTHealth Houston's Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Center for Interventional Psychiatry's ALTO project is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Research Assistant to join our dynamic research team. The purpose of this trial is to evaluate depressive symptoms following treatment with an investigational drug compared with placebo in participants with treatment-resistant depression. The successful candidate will have a pivotal role in supporting clinical trials and research studies to advance knowledge of mental health and improve patient care. The Research Assistant will work closely with the research team, study participants, and healthcare professionals to ensure the smooth and ethical execution of research projects. Key responsibilities include recruiting and screening participants, collecting and documenting clinical data, obtaining informed consent, assisting with clinical procedures, managing and analyzing data, ensuring regulatory compliance, coordinating study activities, maintaining participant follow-up, monitoring quality assurance, and reporting adverse events. The ideal candidate will work closely with the research team, study participants, and healthcare professionals to advance knowledge and improve patient care. What we do here changes the world. Responsibilities

  • Recruiting and screening participants

  • Conducts basic/ translational research which may include animal work and other activities according to research protocol.
  • Handle biological samples, laboratory experiments and activities, and data collection.
  • Performs laboratory experiments and activities to support research objectives
  • Collects, organize and prepares research data to provide needed information to principal investigators and other researchers.
  • Updates notebooks, records, and databases as needed
  • Maintains clean laboratory equipment and/or work area to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Orders laboratory and/or other supplies as directed by senior research staff.
  • Stays abreast of new and updated procedures and protocols for the research laboratory.
  • Must maintain compliance with required training.
  • May participate in continuing education programs, seminars, and workshops.
  • As needed, may coordinate the work of technicians to ensure efficient, timely and high-quality results.
