About The Position

The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) is seeking a full-time, in-person research assistant to work with its healthcare and budget policy experts. These experts focus on a variety of issues including healthcare policy, the federal budget, and reforms to entitlement programs. The role involves supporting research through editing and contributing to scholarly works, creating data visualizations, and assisting with administrative tasks and the promotion of AEI's scholarly activities. A demonstrated interest in healthcare and public policy, along with research experience, is required. AEI provides a positive work environment and excellent benefits.

Requirements

  • 0 – 2 years of previous applicable full-time work experience; previous internship experience strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, public health, public policy, political science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated interest in health policy, including past research or academic experiences.
  • Proficiency in Excel is required.
  • An understanding of federal healthcare programs (e.g., Medicare and Medicaid) and policymaking processes is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Stata and R is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support research through data retrieval and analysis.
  • Conduct literature reviews of various national and international publications.
  • Edit and contribute to scholarly papers.
  • Edit and draft articles and op-eds aimed at a more general audience.
  • Monitor federal and state health policy changes and track emerging healthcare markets.
  • Summarize selected articles and reports.
  • Create and format charts, graphic displays, and tables.
  • Provide administrative support for scholars.
  • Coordinate public and private events on behalf of scholars.
  • Draft AEI’s monthly health policy newsletter, Vital Signs.
