About The Position

The Research Assistant position will assist with conducting research and other initiatives for the Center for Environmental & Energy Sustainability (CEES). This position that will perform skilled, administrative, and managerial support in research. Plans and direct certain phases in a research project. This position is grant-funded. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant-funding. The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • No prior experience required.
  • Knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment.
  • Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position.
  • Ability to use existing resources and learning to accomplish or surpass intended results for current and future goals/needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's of Science in Engineering, Chemistry or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in designing, planning, and coordinating experiments in support of research projects related to one or more of the following: membrane processes (ceramic membranes, forward and reverse osmosis, air gap membrane distillation, etc.): carbon capture-related research, life cycle assessment, transportation materials, and infrastructure.
  • Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results.
  • Assists undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical, or field staff involved in research.
  • Increase center’s research productivity by developing and submitting new proposals for funding and publishing high quality journal articles, and grant reports.
  • Selects and applies standard techniques of routine research, well organized, capable of multi-tasking, and has excellent documentation skills.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
