The Georgiev laboratory at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a qualified Research Assistant III (RAIII). This role is crucial for making essential contributions to research projects by performing a variety of laboratory tasks. The RAIII will be responsible for culturing cells (eukaryotic and prokaryotic), conducting molecular biology techniques such as transformations, DNA preparation, PCR, and sequence analysis, expressing and purifying proteins, performing phage display, flow cytometry, and ELISA assays. Additionally, the position involves preparing common reagents, maintaining lab equipment, and managing inventory of reagents and supplies. The successful candidate will work under minimal supervision, set up and conduct experiments, follow protocols, record data accurately, and report results. This role also supports other laboratory and research functions. Exceptional organizational, communication (verbal and written), and attention to detail skills are required, along with the ability to be a collaborative team member. Previous experience with plasmid preparation, cloning, DNA mutagenesis, phage display library construction and screening, ELISA, and culturing/transfecting mammalian cells is preferred. The position is on-site at Vanderbilt Medical Center North in Nashville, TN, with traditional daytime business hours, Monday-Friday.
