The Department of Mechanical Engineering at McGill University is seeking a part-time Research Assistant 2 to support a short-term research project. This role will focus on the development of metal-water reactor technology. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Hands-on experience operating high-pressure metal–water reactor systems
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and operating high-pressure and high-temperature equipment
  • Authorized to work in Canada
  • Willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based / located
  • English communication both verbally and in writing

Responsibilities

  • Develop and test metal-water reactor technology and conduct experimental research activities using established protocols, processes, and procedures, with minimal supervision.
  • Conduct experimental tests using a high pressure reactor, overseeing and assisting with the development, setup, and execution of experiments.
  • Develop and evaluate new concepts for the separation of reaction products, including supporting experimental design, data collection, and analysis related to research projects.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to existing research and analytical methods related to experimental design, testing procedures, and data analysis.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental research data and communicate results through the preparation of research reports and related documentation.
