Research Assistant 1
About The Position
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at McGill University is seeking a Research Assistant 1 for the “ADML website and online data storage redesign and development” research project. This role will focus on redesigning the ADML website, identifying an appropriate server platform to host the website and its associated software, implementing an effective website updating mechanism, and supporting the hosting of new software developed by graduate students. The position is covered by the Association of McGill University Research Employees (AMURE) collective agreement. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience to the research project or academic research experience may be deemed equivalent
- Hands-on experience in developing and managing research laboratory websites
- Strong understanding of software hosting requirements in a research environment
- Familiarity with ADML lab research software systems and tools
- Must be authorized to work in Canada
- Willing to work in the province of Quebec
- English communication skills (verbal and written)
Responsibilities
- Redesign and development of the ADML website to improve usability and functionality
- Identify and recommend a suitable server platform to host the website and associated software
- Implement an efficient and user-friendly website content updating system
- Document procedures for website maintenance, updates, and overall management
- Support the integration and hosting of new software tools developed within the ADML lab
- Develop plugins or extensions as needed to support research software applications
