About The Position

The Research and Development Optimization Technologist is responsible for identifying, leading, and overseeing optimization projects within the organization. Projects will focus on enhancing the quality and efficiency of material yields, ingredients, dry goods, and incorporating new technologies to enhance product quality, cost-effectiveness, sustainability, and operational efficiency. The role would involve collaboration with product development teams, suppliers, and operations to identify opportunities for innovation and optimization within the food supply chain and production processes. The Optimization Project Manager will manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that they are executed on time and aligned with the overall business goal.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Food Science, Meat Science, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in project management or a technical management role within the food manufacturing industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project or similar project management tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage optimization projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they meet business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Oversee cross-functional project teams, ensuring collaboration and accountability.
  • Identify risks and issues during project execution and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with regulatory teams to ensure label compliance and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee product test runs, sensory reviews, and sample evaluations.
  • Coordinate product shelf-life studies and manage the change management process.
  • Collect and analyze performance data to measure the success of optimization efforts.
  • Use data-driven insights to refine processes and continuously improve outcomes.
  • Perform post-implementation audits to validate benefit realization performance.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and provide technical input to operations.
  • Work closely with operations and quality assurance to enhance production efficiency and product quality.
  • Lead competitive product evaluations and engage with vendors to improve ingredient solutions.
  • Support large-scale company initiatives, including new facility start-ups.
  • Provide support for pork quality program, including collecting and analyzing data, distributing reports, and coordinating large-scale cut test activities.
  • Serve as a key liaison between customers and operations by providing technical support, resolving issues, and ensuring alignment on product and process performance.
  • Conduct analysis of existing business processes and workflows to identify product improvements.
  • Drive initiatives to streamline operations, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity.
  • Apply lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies where appropriate.
  • Identify industry best practices and integrate them into company operations.
  • Participate in personal development programs and contribute to team growth.
  • Play a key role in the interview and onboarding process for new hires.
