About The Position

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is hiring a Research and Development Engineer (CFD) in Dayton, OH. This position requires an active TS/SCI clearance with eligibility to obtain a CI Polygraph. The role involves applying deep technical knowledge of hypersonic aerothermodynamics and related modeling techniques to model, simulate, and analyze hypersonic systems within a dynamic R&D environment that values innovation and collaboration. The engineer will utilize high-fidelity computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in DoW or IC programs.
  • Strong knowledge of hypersonic aerothermodynamic phenomenology.
  • Proficiency in using high-fidelity computational fluid dynamics CFD modeling applications.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced R&D environment.
  • Strong communication skills capable of conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and departments, while also being self-sufficient when needed.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with ability to obtain CI Polygraph.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics with coursework and/or research in the fields of hypersonic, physical gas dynamics, or numerical methods.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in the field.
  • Advanced experience in GEOINT processing research and development.
  • Extensive experience with academic, government, or commercial CFD tools and workflows.
  • Expertise in modeling and simulating advanced foreign weapon systems' aerodynamic performance and signatures.
