Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a scientific discipline; or candidates with a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2–5 years of rodent research experience.
  • Working understanding of common target rodent species (Norway rats, roof rats, house mice).
  • Demonstrated understanding of rodent behavior, Neophobia, Social Learning, Species/strain, Avoidance learning.
  • Proficiency in current rodent handling and dosing techniques.
  • Previous involvement in designing and implementing rodent research projects in laboratory and domestic environments.
  • Pest Applicator Certification in the State of Wisconsin to facilitate device evaluation involving rodenticide use in bait stations with the Field Technicians.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of common animal laboratory practices: Animal husbandry and welfare, Animal identification (e.g., tattooing), Toxicology study conduct, Disease recognition, Dose calculations, Pain/distress recognition.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing of lab reports and research summaries tailored to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience documenting studies in an electronic laboratory notebook (ELN).

Responsibilities

  • Become proficient in sensor based and network rodent control devices.
  • Development of trap efficacy data with focus on humaneness, and trap force data (trigger, clamp and impact momentum).
  • Develop a thorough understanding of trap approval guidelines as required.
  • Actively participate in the evaluation of integrated trap and bait station systems.
  • Evaluate performance capabilities of the Bell iQ product portfolio.
  • Provide support to Product Development Research on ongoing development projects.
  • Conduct all testing to support the Tomcat brand.
  • Participate in a rotating weekend schedule (approximately 1 in 5 weekends) with occasional holiday work as required.
  • Provide support to Product Development Research on ongoing development projects.
