About The Position

The Research Analyst (RA) Program is a two-year program at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. At the direction of economists and senior research analysts or research associates, the Research Analyst will help prepare analyses, reports, and other materials for policy and research projects. The role involves supporting economists and senior staff in both their Bank policy work and long-term research initiatives. Additionally, RAs will provide support on a rotating basis for various production tasks, including documents for briefings, materials for the FOMC cycle, and other reports to achieve the Bank's and Research Group's goals.

Requirements

Experience in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
Experience in data analysis and using statistical packages (e.g., R, Stata, Matlab, Julia, SAS, Gauss, TSP, RATS, EViews, PROCSQL), or other computer programming experience (e.g., Java, C++, Python).
Work cooperatively in a team environment.
Must be a 'Protected Individual' as defined in U.S. federal immigration law (U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, and U.S. permanent residents not yet eligible to apply for naturalization or who have applied within the requisite timeframe). Permanent residents may be eligible if they sign a declaration of intent to become a U.S. citizen and meet other eligibility requirements.

Responsibilities

Assist economists and senior staff in their Bank policy work by downloading and assembling data, preparing charts and tables, creating and maintaining spreadsheets, and using statistical software for analyses and model estimation.
Assist economists and senior staff in their long-term research by performing literature reviews, archival research, downloading and assembling data, preparing charts and tables, creating and maintaining spreadsheets, using statistical software for analyses and model estimation, and helping with writing and proofreading articles.
Provide support on a rotating basis for the production of documents prepared for regular briefings of the Bank president, senior management, and the Bank's Board of Directors.
Provide support for the production of material included in the Blackbook and other briefing documents produced as part of the FOMC cycle.
Provide support for the production of other reports to carry out the Bank's and Research Group's goals.
Perform other tasks to accomplish the Bank's and Research Group's goals.
