About The Position

CHS, Inc. is hiring a Research Analyst for CHS Market Advisors to focus on grain, fertilizer, and biofuel commodity research. As a commodity trading advisor (“CTA”) registered with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (“CFTC”) and a member of the National Futures Association (“NFA”), CHS Market Advisors provides global research and analysis, fertilizer consulting and energy consulting services. The Research Analyst uses rigorous research, analytical, and communication skills to support the Global Research Division across industry research projects, written reports, and customer engagement activities, writing clearly and concisely to explain complex industry trends and economic phenomena. The analyst works both independently and with team members to deliver timely, customized research reports, videos, webinars, podcasts, and presentations for internal business leaders, decision makers, and external customers. This role supports the Director of Global Research by fully owning the development and maintenance of the global grain supply‑demand forecast, helping maintain the research database, and partnering on special projects. The Research Analyst also contributes insights to high‑level discussions with senior CHS staff and customer executives.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 7+ years of experience in commodity markets research analysis
  • Series 3 license, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire

  • Excellent people skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of associates, management, customers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in applying economic theory and statistical analysis to real-world situations.
  • Strong analytical skills, preferably with coursework in and practical application of econometric techniques.
  • Proven ability to write clearly and concisely to synthesize information leading to meaningful conclusions.
  • Experienced with presentations and public speaking, especially in front of large audiences.
  • Strong business, strategy and analytic skills and advanced skills in publishing software.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining up-to-date understanding of trends and critical variables impacting grain supply and demand on a local, regional, and global basis.
  • Creating and maintaining internal models, databases, and related visual presentations of information (graphs, tables, etc.).
  • Ability to leverage existing and latest information services and software technologies that add value to CHS’ research efforts.
  • Authoring insightful reports, briefing materials, and recommendations regarding industry trends, structural changes, and policy initiatives for internal and external audiences.
  • Preparing and delivering presentations and participating in internal and external speaking engagements as appropriate.
  • Participating in special projects and performing other duties as assigned.
  • Attending key industry events and conferences, as appropriate.
